 – Strengthened region-wise in the state
 – We also carry out daily inspections during the corona disaster
 – Complain to the toll free number about high prices
 – Minister of State for Civil Supplies Kodali Nani

Gudivada, June 9: Kodali Srivenkateswara Rao (Nani), Minister of State for Civil Supplies and Consumer Affairs, said that the Weights and Measures Department in the state is working with a strategy to achieve good results, as part of which it is following 4A method such as Awareness, Advice, Admonish and Action.  Minister Kodali Nani spoke to the media at Krishna District Gudivada on Wednesday.  Strengthened the Weights and Measures Department by filling the vacancies in the state region-wise.  Central and state governments imposed lock-down sanctions during the first wave of corona in March last year.  He said the weights and measures department had taken all measures to ensure there was no shortage of essential commodities anywhere in the state.  He also said that spot checks were carried out on illegal stocks of essentials from time to time.  He said that in support of the Corona disaster, traders were asked to co-operate with the government in preventing the sale of essential commodities at exorbitant prices.  With daily inspections,  registered cases across the state against shops for committing MRP and other violations.

The Department of Weights and Measures was working efficiently even in the Corona second wave.  It would respond immediately to complaints of MRP, other violations and illegal stockpiling of essentials and would not hesitate to take action against those who commit irregularities.  He said the central government had also carried out large-scale inspections at petrol bunks and brought the shortcomings to their notice.  He said the Center has been briefed on the steps to be taken to prevent future irregularities.  “We have been adopting the 4A approach since August 2019. We will first raise awareness, then advise, Admonish if necessary and finally take action,” he said.  Individuals and companies that use weighing and measuring instruments are required to submit their equipment to the Department of Weights and Measures on time and have their seals adjusted and sealed.  It is illegal to use weights and measures without proper seals.  We are looking to enforce the Packaged Commodities Rules properly. It was conducting cases of spot checks on shops committing MRP, other violations.  Minister Kodali Nani said the toll free number has been made available for the affected consumers to complain to the Department of Weights and Measures if they are selling at high prices anywhere.
