Start of distribution of free rice to 1.47 crore households across the state

Gudivada, June 1: Kodali Srivenkateswara Rao (Nani), Minister of State for Civil Supplies and Consumer Affairs, has said that a free rice distribution program will be launched in June for families with one crore 47 lakh 27 thousand 764 rice cards across the state as in May.  Minister Kodali Nani spoke to the media at Krishna District Gudivada on Tuesday.  Last year, 16 installments of essential commodities were provided free of cost to prevent the poor from going hungry due to lock-down sanctions imposed by the central and state governments.  In view of the intensity of the corona second wave, CM Jaganmohan Reddy said that the decision has been taken to distribute quality Sortex rice at the rate of 10 kg per family member once again in May and June for free.  Last May, 6 lakh 51 thousand 437 families in Vijayanagaram district, 7 lakh 48 thousand 725 families in Srikakulam district, 11 lakh 60 thousand 025 families in Visakhapatnam district, 11 lakh 31 thousand 357 families in West Godavari district, 7 lakh 40 thousand 177 families in YSR Kadapa district, 14 lakh 91 thousand 117 families in the East Godavari district, 10 lakh 95 thousand 688 families in Anantapur district, 10 lakh 31 thousand 387 families in Chittoor district, 10 lakh 77 thousand 331 families in Kurnool district, 8 lakh 80 thousand 178 families in Prakasam district and 7 lakh 80 thousand 106 families in Nellore district.  Minister Kodali Nani said that rice was distributed to 11 lakh 36 thousand 283 families in Krishna district and 12 lakh 92 thousand 078 families in Guntur district.
