Gudivada: State Civil Supplies and Consumer Affairs Minister Kodali Srivenkateswara Rao (Nani) has said that father-son late YS Rajasekhara Reddy and his son Jaganmohan Reddy were allotted about 450 acres of land for poor housing in Gudivada constituency while they were chief ministers. Minister Kodali Nani spoke to the media at the camp office in Gudivada town on Friday. The late YSR and CM Jaganmohan Reddy are among the greats who bought such a large amount of land in a constituency in India after independence and embarked on the construction of houses, he said. 181 acres of land had been acquired for the poor in Gudivada town since he took over as chief minister. In 2008, the then Chief Minister, the late YS Rajasekhara Reddy, bought 77 acres of land. It was building 8,912 Tidco houses on the land given to it. We are fulfilling the dream of owning nearly 16 thousand poor families in the Gudivada town.
He also said that 30 acres in Gudlavalleru in Gudivada constituency, 14 acres in Nandivada Mandal Janardhanapuram, 7.5 acres in Tamirisa and 7.5 acres in Polukonda have been acquired for poor housing in each village. He also said that a 47 acre fresh water pond was dug in Gudivada town during the British rule. Although the urban population has reached 1.20 lakhs, the drinking water needs are being met through this pond alone. A summer storage tank was constructed on an area of 106 acres in Peda Erukapadu. Gudivada Rural and Nandivada Mandals are also being set up with a multi-village scheme to provide a permanent solution to the fresh water problem. Machilipatnam MP Vallabhaneni Balasouri assured that Rs 300 crore would be sanctioned from NABARD for the construction of the project. We are also collecting another 400 acres of land to allocate affordable housing to middle class people. Minister Kodali Nani said that only the CM Jaganmohan Reddy government after the late YSR government was working for the poor by collecting such large tracts of land adjoining Gudivada Constituency.
