Distributed free rice to over one crore families across the state

Gudivada, May 15: There are one crore 47 lakh 27 thousand 764 rice cards in the state, of which one crore 01 lakh 35 thousand 993 cards have so far been supplied free quality Sortex rice, said Kodali Srivenkateswara Rao (Nani), Minister of State for Civil Supplies and Consumer Affairs. Minister Kodali Nani spoke to reporters at Krishna District Gudivada on Saturday. Last year, under the lock-down sanctions imposed by the central and state governments, Department of Civil Supplies distribute essentials in 16 free installments to ensure that the poor do not go hungry. In view of the severity of the corona second wave, CM Jaganmohan Reddy said the decision was taken in May and June this year to distribute quality rice free of cost at the rate of 10 kg per member of families with rice cards.

He said the distribution of essential commodities to rice cardholders across the state was 68.82 per cent complete. Kurnool district 76.17 per cent, Prakasam district 74.29 per cent, YSR Kadapa district 73.88 per cent, Anantapur district 76.32 per cent, West Godavari district 70.96 per cent, Chittoor district 69.41 per cent, Guntur district 68.68 per cent, Vijayanagaram district 70.75 per cent, Visakhapatnam district 65.40 per cent and East Godavari district 63.98 per cent , 63.68 per cent in Krishna district, 64.90 per cent in Srikakulam district and 57.61 per cent in Nellore district. Meanwhile, Prakasam district has a total of 9 lakh 96 thousand 073 rice cards and so far 7 lakh 39 thousand 983 cards have been provided free of cost. Kurnool district has a total of 12 lakh 13 thousand 940 rice cards up to 9 lakh 24 thousand 750 cards, West Godavari district has a total of 12 lakh 42 thousand 454 rice cards up to 8 lakh 81 thousand 663 cards and YSR Kadapa district has a total of 8 lakh 13 thousand 453.

While there are rice cards for 6 lakh 01 thousand 009 cards till now, Chittoor district has a total of 11 lakh 54 thousand 977 rice cards till now 8 lakh 01 thousand 681 cards and Visakhapatnam district has a total of 12 lakh 72 thousand 917 rice cards till now 8 lakh 32 thousand 561 For cards, Vijayanagaram district has a total of 6 lakh 95 thousand 821 rice cards up to 4 lakh 92 thousand 305 cards, Anantapur district has a total of 12 lakh 16 thousand 927 rice cards up to 9 lakh 28 thousand 833 cards and Guntur district has a total of 14 lakh 78 thousand 955. 10 lakh 15 thousand 831 cards for rice cards till date. Krishna district has a total of 12 lakh 98 thousand 567 rice cards up to 8 lakh 27 thousand 014 cards, Srikakulam district has a total of 8 lakh 11 thousand 716 rice cards up to 5 lakh 26 thousand 814 cards and Nellore district has a total of 8 lakh 87 thousand 002 rice cards. So far, 5 lakh 11 thousand 017 cards have been provided free of cost, said Minister Kodali Nani.
