Free education to intermediate student
Student’s father, grandad succumbed to Corona
Lokesh says like a brother, he will support the student
AMARAVATI: TDP National General Secretary and MLC Nara Lokesh on Thursday promised to provide the required educational support to an intermediate student who lost his father and grandfather to the deadly second wave of Coronavirus epidemic.
Mr. Lokesh assured to support and extend all possible help to the bereaved student to continue his education. Intermediate second year student Cherukuri Lokesh Krishna’s father Venkata Subba Rao succumbed to Covid on May 9 while his grandpa Mallikarjuna Rao also got infected and died on May 7.
It may be recalled that Mr. Lokesh wrote letters to the State Government and eventually held digital town hall meetings with the students and their parents for the postponement of the 10th and Intermediate examinations. Mr. Cherukuri Lokesh Krishna actively participated in those meetings and made a strong plea to the Government to postpone the exams. The student said at that time itself that their family members got infected.
Making a strong plea for the postponement of exams, the student had said at that time that he was also infected with the virus and asked how he would be able to write the exams. Despite these pleas from the students and their parents, the Chief Minister adamantly stuck to his decision. However, his Government was forced to postpone the examinations after the TDP along with the students initiated a legal struggle in the High Court of Andhra Pradesh.
Student Lokesh Krishna’s mother and grandma had also got infected with Coronavirus and they eventually tested negative. The epidemic was causing serious losses in many families. Those losing breadwinners in their families were facing serious problems like never before.
