TDP ‘missed call’ campaign for ‘Save Vizag Steel’ stir


20,000 calls received to 8099-981981 in two days
Social media active role in steel plant agitation

AMARAVATI: The TDP is making effective use of technology and social media to take the fight against privatisation of Vizag Steel to the next level.

As the agitation is becoming more vocal in AP, the Telugu Desam Party has come out with an innovative campaign. A ‘missed call’ campaign was begun to record people’s voices of support for the ‘Save Visakha Steel’ stir. Till now, more than 20,000 missed calls were received.

In a press release here, the Telugu Desam Party has said that it has begun this campaign urging supporters to give a missed call to 8099-981981.The campaign has received 20,000 calls within 2 days. This is part of the TDP’s efforts to utilise social media to step up the agitation in the coming weeks.

As readers are well aware, the Andhra people and social media activists have been racked with this issue. This has led to impressive response to online campaigns – #JusticeForVizag and #VisakhaUkkuAndhrulaHakku which were trending on Twitter and Facebook.

The missed call campaign by the TDP promises to open up a new front in this curcial stage of intensifying the agitation against the privatisation of the VSP.
