Outside miscreants bent on vitiating election atmosphere
Release wrongly arrested TDP leaders in Avulavaripalem
Arrest culprits in torching of crops in Pulivendula
AMARAVATI: TDP National President and former Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu on Monday demanded the State Election Commission to initiate necessary steps to send out trouble makers and outside miscreants from the villages in Kuppam assembly constituency in order to ensure a free and fair panchayat election.
Mr. Naidu said that on February 14, an attempt to murder was made against District Congress Committee (DCC) President Suresh Babu at Pacharlapalli village in Gudupalle mandal by a miscreant with knife. The attacker has attacked four other people also when they were trying to protect Mr. Suresh Babu. The Opposition leaders were being attacked with an ulterior plan to demoralise them in the panchayat elections.
In a letter sent to the SEC here, the TDP chief said that there was a need to take special steps to create confidence among the public in a peaceful election process. The attack on Mr. Suresh Babu spoke volumes about the manner in which leaders and cadres belonging to opposition parties were attacked in order to instill a sense of fear. It has come to the TDP’s notice that many such anti-social elements were present in the villages in Kuppam Assembly segment to vitiate polling of gram panchayat elections.
Mr. Naidu said that the State Election Commission (SEC) should act swiftly and ensure that the gram panchayat elections being held on February 17 would be conducted peacefully in a free and fair manner. For this, additional protection forces shall be deployed and all the non-bona fide outsiders should be sent out of villages in Kuppam Assembly segment. Simultaneously, inquiry shall be conducted into the presence of anti-social elements and miscreants in villages and action be taken against the culprits.
In a separate statement, Mr. Chandrababu Naidu condemned the false arrest of the TDP sarpanch candidate along with some others in Avulavaripalem village in Krosuru mandal in the Guntur district. He also decried the torching of the crops of the candidates who contested on behalf of the TDP in the Pulivendula segment in the Kadapa district. The YCP leaders were still behaving shamelessly even though the common public were expressing their resentment against their misrule.
Mr. Naidu said that the rising public support to the TDP in the panchayat elections has come as a big shock to the ruling party leaders. They were resorting to false complaints, false cases and false arrests. Because of the police complacency, the YCP goondas and rowdies were crossing all their limits.
The TDP chief demanded the immediate release of the party leaders arrested in Avulavaripalem village in Krosuru mandal. He also urged for arresting the culprits who were responsible for the burning of crops in Pulivendula.
