Beginning of downfall of Jagan rule: Naidu

TDP chief says Jagan Reddy ‘backstabbed’ his own sister Sharmila
Jagan Reddy betrayed his sisters and backtracked on his uncle Viveka murder

AMARAVATI: TDP National President and former Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu on Wednesday asserted that their party supported candidates posted impressive victories in the first phase panchayat elections by courageously fighting against the attacks, kidnappings, threats and atrocities committed by the ruling YCP with the connivance of the official and police machinery.

Naidu said that the people gave their mandate against the misrule and misdeeds of the Jaganmohan Reddy regime in the past 20 months. The verdict in the panchayat polls marked the ‘beginning of the end’ of the YCP rule in Andhra Pradesh. The State Election Commission and the DGP have failed to take action against the violence, misuse of cash, liquor and muscle power resorted to by the YCP leaders.

Addressing a press conference here, the TDP chief said that their party would go to the court against the election offences in Minister Peddireddy Ramachandra Reddy’s Punganur assembly segment and also Macherla segment. They used force, rejected nominations, prevented rival candidates and tore off nomination papers of others to ensure forced unanimous elections in 82 out of 85 sarpanch seats in Punganur and in 72 out of 77 seats in Macherla segment. The TDP has brought this to the notice of the SEC hour to hour but there has been no remedial action. The Minister, the officials and the ruling party leaders responsible for rejections of nominations would be answerable to the court.

Naidu said that the people fought against all odds and literally rose in revolt against the Jagan regime’s unconstitutional actions like abolition of Council, removal of the State Election Commissioner arbitrarily, undermining of the courts’ orders and oppression of the Opposition parties. Unfortunately, Peddireddy was allowed to continue as a Minister even after he threatened to put IAS, IPS and all India officers in blacklist if they followed the orders of the State Election Commissioner. There was no action even though the YCP resorted to 2 murders, 23 ‘attempt to murders’, 42 kidnappings, 92 threats, 33 election offences and filing of over 774 illegal cases.

Referring to YS Sharmila’s proposed new political party, Mr. Chandrababu Naidu said Ms. Sharmila was the victim of yet another treachery of CM Jaganmohan Reddy. This time, the Chief Minister has not hesitated to cheat his own sister on which he owed an answer to the public. At every chance, Mr. Jagan Reddy would give elaborate lectures on credibility but when it came to his sisters, he was not practising the same. The CM should explain why the arrow he released was now turning against him. ‘Jagananna vadilina banam’ (arrow released by Jagan ie Sharmila) was now going in a reverse mode.

Mr. Naidu said that it was not by credibility but by using such total lies and deception against his family members and against the people of Andhra Pradesh that Mr. Jaganmohan Reddy has come to power in 2019. At that time, Mr. Jagan Reddy demanded the CBI inquiry into the murder of his own uncle Vivekananda Reddy but after coming to power, he said there was no need for the CBI probe. It was only after Viveka’s daughter went to the court that the murder case was being investigated by the CBI. Viveka’s daughter had a right to know who were the culprits in the murder. CM Jagan should answer for this and he should explain whether or not he was repeatedly going to Delhi to get relief for the accomplices from the CBI probe.

Accusing the CM of having no credibility, Mr. Chandrababu Naidu said that Mr. Jagan Reddy has appointed his co-accused in the corruption cases as his Ministers, MPs, secretaries and core teams. All these important positions were given to those who would figure as numbers A2 to A9 and so on in his cases. These people with a dark background have even entered the Parliament and the Assembly thanks to Jagan Reddy.

Mr. Naidu demanded the Chief Minister to give an explanation to the parents and the students who were suffering silently after his regime cancelled the fee reimbursement and scholarships. While the TDP gave a boost to the engineering education by increasing colleges from 30 to 300, now these professional colleges are closing down. A girl now committed suicide after the Government stopped fee reimbursement for which the YCP leaders should take responsibility.
