YCP creating tensions in peaceful North Andhra
TDP chief demands release of Atchannaidu
Sarpanches stay for 5 years, YCP only for 2 years
AMARAVATI: TDP National President and former Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu on Tuesday accused the Jaganmohan Reddy Government of resorting to vindictive politics against the TDP leaders out of frustration over the rising anti-YCP sentiment in the panchayat elections.
Mr. Naidu asserted that the latest arrest of TDP AP President K Atchannaidu marked the peak of the YCP vengeful activities in the midst of the election process. It was clear that CM Jagan Reddy has been bent on taking vengeance againt the North Andhra region. The YCP would be there only for two years but the sarpanches would stay for the next five years.
In a statement here, the TDP chief deplored that the fear of defeat has caused the YCP leaders to unleash terror in the three North Andhra districts of Srikakulam, Vizianagaram and Visakhapatnam. In Atchannaidu’s native Nimmada village, there were no clashes of any sort for the past 40 years. Now, tensions were being created there only for the narrow political gains. It should be ascertained first as to who has caused the tensions.
Mr. Chandrababu Naidu blamed the YCP leader, Duvvada Srinivas, for storming into the village of Atchannaidu along with his party activists. There were photos and video evidence to show Duvvada Srinvias has issued threats and his activists brandished rods, knives and axes. But, the police did not file any case on the YCP gangters. Instead, false cases were filed against Atchannaidu. Almost all sections of the IPC were slapped on the TDP leaders for no fault of his.
The TDP chief recalled how similar false cases were filed against himself, Kala Venkatarao and Atchannaidu in the Ramatheertham incident. Other TDP leaders like Kuna Ravikumar and Velagapudi Ramakrishna Babu were also implicated in false cases. Former MP Sabbam Hari’s residence and the GITAM property were demolished. The ruling party was following a specific modes operandi to target the Opposition leaders and their property.
Recalled how Mr. Atchannaidu was being targetted for a long time, Mr. Chandrababu Naidu decried that the YCP was targetting him as he exposed corruption under the present Government. Atchannaidu was illegally arrested and put in jail for over 83 days. Though he underwent surgery, Atchannaidu was put to severe stress by making him travel in the vehicle for 20 hours across 5 districts for a length of 700 kms. Because of this, Atchannaidu had to undergo surgery once again. The ruling YCP was responsible for this.
Mr. Chandrababu Naidu asserted that the Jagan regime would have to pay a heavy price for all its oppressive activities. The people have decided to give a strong lesson to the YCP in the panchayat elections. Atchannaidu should be released unconditionally. All the false cases filed against him should be lifted.
Earlier, Mr. Naidu said that the contesting candidates need not be afraid of the YCP threats and intimidations as this problem would not be there for long. It should be noted that the YCP regime was temporary only for two years more. But the newly elected sarpanches would stay there for the next five years. Once the TDP would come to power, it would pay back all the arrears towards the old bills along with interest.
The TDP chief asserted that the sarpanch candidates should put up a strong fight in the polls in order to ensure victory and save their villages from the ruling party gangsters. Every village panchayat would get nearly Rs. 5 Cr in the next five years under the NREGS programme alone. Over Rs. 70,000 Cr Central funds would be directly given to the 13,000 odd panchayats in AP in the next five years. This should be used efficiently for the overall development of the villages.
