AMARAVATI: TDP National President and former Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu on Monday accused the ruling YCP leaders of spreading terror in Nimmada in Srikakulam district in order to disturb the election process and prevent the people from casting their votes.

Naidu expressed concern that the YCP Srikakulam Lok Sabha candidate was behind the tensions building up at Nimmada now. The ruling party miscreants were brandishing rods, knives and axes to strike fear among the common public. These gangsters were instigated by the YCP leaders there.

In a statement here, the TDP chief asserted that an otherwise peaceful atmosphere in Nimmada was being disturbed to achieve narrow political mileage. Already, the Additional DGP in charge of the elections was requested to take immediate action with respect to the conspiracies of YCP leader Duvvada Srinivas.

Mr Naidu said that the Nimmada panchayat in the Tekkeli assembly constituency was a peaceful place. It is home to former Union Minister K Yerrun Naidu, TDP AP President Atchannaidu and MP Rammohan Naidu. Even in such a peaceful panchayat, Duvvada Srinivas was bent on instigating trouble. This was being done to get undue political mileage.

Naidu urged for taking the required action against the erring leaders. Normalcy should be restored in Nimmada and all steps should be taken for ensuring a fair and peaceful election there. The democratic process of elections should be protected.

Naidu also complained about the attack at Periyambadi in Chittoor district where TDP MLC Dorababu’s vehicle was damaged. The TDP camp was also attacked. Stringent action should be initiated against the culprits.

Naidu deplored that the North Andhra region was known for its peaceful conduct of elections but this time the YCP rowdy mobs were out on the roads to disturb the poll process. The people were unhappy and disappointed about the YCP’s thoughtless and undemocratic rule. They would teach a strong lesson to the ruling party leaders very soon. The law and order has deteriorated completely in the State.

Stating that the YCP was afraid of the rising unpopularity of its misrule, Mr. Naidu said that the ruling party leaders were not able to face the public and ask for votes. The last 20 months of the Jagan regime have caused much heartburn among the people who were waiting for their chance to show the YCP its true place. Though the unruly mobs were creating such tensions everywhere, the AP Police were not taking sufficient steps.

Naidu decried the attack on TDP MLC Dorababu’s vehicle and blamed the YCP for resorting to these attacks out of frustration and despair over the rising unpopularity of its rule. Out of fear of losing the elections, the ruling party was indulging in mindless attacks and kidnappings. But the general public were determined to fight back the YCP’s vicious plans. Unable to bring in development and growth, the ruling party leaders were trying all sorts of ulterior methods to retain supremacy and power.

Naidu asserted that the people were thoroughly unhappy about the misgovernance of CM Jagan Reddy and they would stop his Government’s misdeeds by defeating the YCP supported candidates. He condemned the kidnapping of BN Halli grama sarpanch candidate’s husband Eeranna in Rayadurgam. The YCP leaders kidnapped him and threatened to kill him if his wife went on to file her nomination.

The TDP chief expressed concern that the ruling party was losing all patience in the face of certain defeat. The TDP candidates should not be afraid of such threats and they should file nomination without fail. The TDP would stand by their side.
